Ekupholeni extends a helping hand

A non-profit organisation, Ekupholeni Mental Health and Trauma Centre (EMHTC), based in Katlehong has extended a helping hand to 10 Kathorus grannies.

It is known as an organisation that really helps needy community members of Kathorus and surrounding places. On June 12 it donated 10 blankets they had received from a sponsor at Standout Logistics by the name of Femi Salami-Laniyani.

The handover was conducted by members of one of EMHTC’s affiliates – HIV Bereavement Programme – at the EMHTC premises at Maphanga Section in Katlehong.

Phumlani Ndaba, marketing and communication officer of EMHTC, said the organisation offers psycho-social services around Kathorus area.

“We run individual and family support groups for those who need psycho-social help including those who are affected directly and indirectly by HIV and Aids or other related issues,” said Ndaba.

He said the group of 10 grannies who were given blankets are very helpful to the organisation.

“They look after children whose mothers have passed away due to HIV and Aids related sicknesses,” he said.

The ceremony was witnessed by Mapotso Mphuthi, the HIV Bereavement programme manager, and EMHTC executive director, Zodwa Mzondo, who helped to issue the blankets.
