Katlehong SAPS visits old age home

Katlehong SAPS on Friday, June 30, visited the Ark of Love Old Age Home, in Katlehong, to provide the elderly with a delicious meal of soup and bread.

Communications official at Katlehong police station, Capt Mega Ndobe, said the initial plan was to hand out soup at Sontonga Mall, where the elderly go to collect their pensions.

“We were informed that pensioners collect their grants at Sontonga Mall as from the third of every month. Unfortunately when we arrived at the mall as planned, they weren’t there. So we went to visit them at the old age home instead,” said Ndobe.

He said more than 40 elders pensioners benefited from the initiative and enjoyed the meal.

“This will be an ongoing project. The police will be visiting different pay points every month, especially during the cold season,” Ndobe said.

Public relations officer at Ark of Love Old Age Home, Godwill Nyabaza, said the gesture was highly appreciated.

“They came at the right time, while we were busy preparing breakfast for the elders. We thank them for showing love to the elders,” said Nyabaza.
