Tedstoneville resident, Lee Magney, is desperately searching for his uncle David Magnie (70) who went missing last Friday.
“My uncle was last seen going to the shops just up the road from our home in Martin Street around midday on August 18,” said Magney.
“We suspect that he took a wrong turn on his return home.
“What concerns us the most is that he doesn’t have a good memory because he suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.”
Magney said he received a call from someone who told him that they had spotted his uncle in Elsburg.
“The woman who called said she saw my uncle at around 2pm that day and could tell that he was confused. When she asked if they could help him, he told her that he was trying to get home,” said Magney.
“The woman said she went to get her brother to help her but when they returned to where David was, he was already gone.”

Magney told the GCN he thinks his uncle might be trying to make his way to Reiger Park, in Boksburg.
“When we realised that he was missing we went to various places to look for him, including the Elsburg Police Station,” said Magney.
“The police told us my uncle was at the police station and when they asked how they could assist him, he said he was on his way home to Reiger Park and left.
“We used to live in Reiger Park before moving to Tedstoneville, which is why he might have said that.
“We appeal to anybody who may have seen him to inform us, as any information might help us trace him.”
Magnie was last seen wearing light blue denims, a black jacket and brown hiking boots.
He has short grey hair and a beard; he is 1.57m tall with brown eyes.
If anyone has seen him or knows his whereabouts, please contact Lee Magney on 083 388 7430 or 011 827 7030.
