Ndobe addresses men at a local church
The issue of violence against men was addressed during the Men's Forum held at Revival Worship Ministries on Saturday, August 12 at Khumalo Valley in Katlehong.
Katlehong SAPS was at the forum, which was attended by more than 200 male members of the church.
The following issues were addressed: domestic violence, assault, serious assault and other, different kinds of abuse.
Delivering his speech, communications official at the Katlehong police station Capt Mega Ndobe encouraged men to open cases when abused.
“There are issues of men being laughed at by other men when opening cases of abuse against them. You must not be afraid of going to the police station and report[ing them] because such cases will be treated in a separate office,” said Ndobe.
He said domestic violence victims will be given first priority, whether men or women.
“If there is a need they will be taken to a place of safety,” Ndobe concluded.
The men were excited. They were given an opportunity to raise different issues that affect them.
