1. WATCH: Motorist assaulted by EMPD in Symhurst

Two female EMPD officers are under investigation after being caught on video assaulting a female motorist in Symhurst, recently. This comes after the two officers, who were with another (male) officer, were policing a stop street on the corner of Cactus Road and Ceres Street.

2. Blue Whale suicide game hits Joburg

A warning has been issued by a trauma counsellor after the Blue Whale game recently surfaced in Gauteng. The warning followed after a Facebook post by a mother in Johannesburg, who discovered her son had been playing the Blue Whale game, went viral. The Blue Whale suicide game is an online application that encourages people to kill themselves.

3. Most liked photo on Instagram

Germiston City News’ receptionist Christina Radebe read her copy of the latest GCN. Did you get yours? The photo was liked 13 times.

4. CBD stop-and-search yields results

During a Germiston SAPS stop-and-search operation held in the Germiston CBD, recently, officers arrested a 35-year-old man after a vehicle jammer was found in his possession. “WO Godfrey Sehlangu and Const Nicodimas Moremi found the device in the man’s possession and it was tested,” said Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS.

5. Police crackdown on drug use in Primrose

While patrolling the streets of Primrose, recently, police noticed a woman behaving suspiciously in Shamrock Road. “She became visibly tense when the approaching police asked to search her. During the search officers found a zip-lock bag containing a white substance that they believed was crystal methamphetamine,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
