Look out, snake season is upon us

With spring in the air and the weather nice and warm, snakes will now be up and about after a long period of brumation, hungry and in search of food. From mid-August until late May it is snake season. The metro cautions pet owners to be on high alert and keep an eye on their domestic pets as they may fall prey to snakes.

Werner Neveling competes in the tyre pull at the recent Highveld Rebelist Strength and Endurance Course 2017 in Standerton. He placed second in the competition.

Local high school maths teacher and Symhurst resident, Werner Neveling, has been testing his strength out in the field again. He recently competed in the Highveld Rebelist Strength and Endurance Course 2017 which took place in Sanderson.

Breaking News – Pretoria Road closed by police as Makause residents protest

Motorists have had to find alternative routes around the Makause informal settlement as police closed off Pretoria Road, last Monday. It is reported that residents clashed with police over the kidnapping of a child.

Man allegedly stabbed by brother-in-law

While on his way to the shops last Sunday, a Makause informal settlement man was allegedly assaulted by his 24-year-old brother-in-law. The victim claimed the situation escalated when the accused followed him home and stabbed him with a sharp object in the upper body.

Alleged Primrose murderer nabbed in Limpopo

Almost a year after being attacked and stabbed in the Makause informal settlement a man was surprised to meet his alleged attacker in Giyani, Limpopo, recently. “The victim was one of two men allegedly stabbed by the accused in October 2016. The second man died at the scene. “After the crime, the 49-year-old man who was known to both victims disappeared,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
