Recycling factory goes up in flames
Seven fire engines were deployed to the scene of a factory fire on Wednesday.
A plastic recycling company in Knights Street, Knights went up in flames in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Aaron Mafunda, media liaison officer for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), told the GCN that the recycling factory, as well as a separate building housing six offices, burnt down.

“A four-ton truck was also destroyed in the fire as it was inside the factory,” he said.
Mafunda said emergency services received the call at 3.03am and teams from Primrose, Edenvale, Bedfordview and Leon Ferreira (in Boksburg) fire stations responded.
“In total there were seven vehicles on scene to deal with the blaze,” he said.
“By 5.05am the fire was extinguished and damping down began.”
Mufunda added that the cause of the fire is not yet known and investigations will be conducted to establish the cause.
