Ekurhuleni West Task Team nab man for allegedly dealing in dagga in Malvern East.

Officers from the Ekurhuleni West Task Team arrested a 43-year-old man, last Sunday, for dealing in dagga in Malvern East.

The arrest was made while police were patrolling in Stanhope Road.

“They noticed the man, who was wearing a work suit, acting suspiciously.

“He appeared to become tense when approached by police,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Police stopped their vehicle and approached him; they introduced themselves and searched him.

“Officers found a plastic bag, containing many loose coins and seven small see-through plastic packets containing dagga, in his possession,” said Maome.

“During questioning the man admitted he was dealing dagga and claimed that he did so to make a living as he is currently unemployed.”

He was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he was formally charged.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
