Company provides sponsorship for childcare centre
Dzulani Children Care Centre in Vosloorus received sponsorship from Anglo American Platinum on December 1.
Tebogo Mdhluli, a senior manager at the company, said they are running a programme called Platinum for Gold, where they assist registered non-profit organisations (NPOs).
“We also assist NPOs with their registration processes. Once they are registered they qualify to get help from us.
“Under this programme, we as staff members contribute an amount of money to help the registered NPOs in the community we serves as well as the surrounding communities. This time we decided to go 50km away from our office. Within that 50km, we identified 14 children’s homes that we are going to assist, including Dzulani Children Care Centre,” said Mdhluli.
She said they contributed R15 000 to help Dzulani Children Care Centre with bedding linen, towels, clothing, shoes, sanitary towels, food, and cartridges for printers.
“Our help does not end here. We are still going to set up an office facility for them here in the yard. We will also assist them with ink for office use. The help will be ongoing until they get funding from social welfare,” Mdhluli said.
Nelly Nelukau, the founder of Dzulani Children Care Centre, was excited to receive the help.
“This help from Anglo American Platinum will make a huge difference in the lives of my children while we wait for social welfare to come to the party,” said Nelukau.
She said what makes them even happier is Anglo American Platinum’s continued support. “It means they are serious about keeping their promise, unlike other organisations that made promises to us and never kept them,” said Nelukau.
The company gave the gift of R1000 to the home.
