While on a routine patrol in Katlehong last Friday morning, EMPD Public Order Policing Unit members were alerted by a vehicle tracking company of a stolen Inyathi minibus taxi in the area.
Using the GPS coordinates provided by the tracking company, the metro police were able to locate the vehicle in Maphike Street, Katlehong at around 9am.
The vehicle was found abandoned with a stripped dashboard and was towed to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni.
No arrests have been made.
