“The officers received a tip-off about a man who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
“They rushed to the address given and introduced themselves and asked permission to search the suspect and the premises,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
During the search police found a substance believed to be drugs in his pocket and three different types of live ammunition in a box on a table.

“The suspect was unable to give officers either a license for a firearm or the ammunition,” said Maome.
The man was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.
During processing it was discovered, with the help of a micro connectivity device, that the man had given officers a fake name and that he was wanted in connection with other cases at the Edenvale and Boksburg Police Stations.
The man will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon, after which he will be handed over to the other police stations to face further charges.
