Six men, aged between 20 and 37 years old, were arrested for the possession of dagga during a stop-and-search operation conducted by officers from the Primrose Police Station.
The operation saw police visiting three informal settlements in Primrose, namely Makause, Delport and Marathon.

“Officers stopped residents at random and searched them, arresting the six suspects when dagga was found in their possession,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The men were arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station, pending their appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
Some were later released after paying an admission of guilt fine, while others had their cases postponed.

“We are still encountering problems with substance abuse in our precinct and we will carry on arresting all lawbreakers in our area in hopes of bringing an end to this problem.
“We as police believe that substance abuse can lead to domestic violence, murders, assaults or even robberies,” said Maome.
