Donate items to help those in dire straits
The LamDel Residents Association is doing its bit to help those in need in the community.
The LamDel Residents Association has started a project called Neighbours in Need.
“We felt that there are a number of residents in need, not only in our area but also our neighbouring suburbs,” said Lornette Joseph, LamDel Residents Association chairperson.
“When the house fire in Elsburg happened last year, we realised that there is a desperate need for emergency food items, household goods and clothing; in view of this, we started this project.
“We have even taken food items to residents that we know are struggling.
“Fortunately we have a storage facility at the First Germiston Scout hall and when there is a call for help, the team will go in and ‘raid our stores’.”

The association has successfully helped many families with items of clothing, stationery, food, household items and more, but the stores are almost empty and the need in the community is constant.
“As such, we appeal to the community to assist us with this ongoing initiative.
“Please consider donating non-perishable food items, cleaning items, dry pet food, and stationery and leaving them in the bins provided at either the Lambton or Hazel Park Pick n Pays.
“Also, for those that are cleaning out their homes, please consider donating your items to the Neighbours in Need project,” said Lornette.
Household items can be taken to Natka Hair and Beauty Salon, situated at 98 Webber Road, opposite Lambton Pick n Pay, or email info@lamdel.org.za to arrange for collection.
“Your generosity will go a long way in helping your fellow man,” said Lornette.
