Wessels flexes to success

Bodybuilder wins his first competition of the season.

Local bodybuilder Marius Wessels from Unique Physique in Primrose has started the bodybuilding competition season on a high note.

He recently competed in the Champions Arise Bodybuilding Competition held at the North-West University in Potchefstroom.

Wessels outshone his fellow competitors placing first in the masters over 40 years old division.

At the age of 52, Wessels said he enjoys the challenges associated with competing in bodybuilding.

“It takes extreme willpower and determination and a strict diet for 12 weeks,” he said.

His next competition will be the Boksburg Classic competition taking place on July 21.

Wessels, a personal trainer, believes in leading by example.

“I cannot expect my clients to challenge themselves to get into shape if I cannot live a healthy lifestyle myself,” he said.
