Vosloorus SAPS hosts public meeting

The Vosloorus SAPS in partnership with the Community Police Forum (CPF) and the Sector Crime Forum (SCF) held a public meeting at Lethulwazi Comprehensive School in Eastfield, Vosloorus, on April 21.

Vosloorus SAPS communications official Captain Piet Rossouw said the purpose of the meeting was to make the public in Extension 10 aware of the increase in crimes such as car hijacking, house break-ins, rape, assault grievous bodily harm (GBH) and common assault.

“The community members were very participative during the meeting and they even came up with some ideas that might be a solution to these crimes,” said Rossouw.

The SAPS thanked the community members for their attendance.

Rossouw said: “They came in their numbers. This means they still believe in us as the Vosloorus SAPS. All we need from them is to listen to our warnings and then try their level best to co-operate by reporting any sort of crime they are aware of.”

The meeting was led by Constable Ntombifuthi Maphisa (Sector One manager), Nkosinathi Ramara (SFC chairman), Busisiwe Ntuli (SCF secretary), four SCF additional members, Brigadier Themba Denge (Vosloorus SAPS commander), Khehla Madla (ward councillor), Sam Moretsi (CPF), Jerry Ramohapi (CPF), Simon Mbuyisa (CPF) and Captain Obed Phala (Vosloorus SAPS social crime prevention head).
