A 22-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police for rape.
The arrest was made after a Makause informal settlement woman opened a case at the Primrose Police Station.
“The woman told police she and some friends had been at a local tavern.

“In the early hours of the morning she decided to make her way home and was followed by the accused,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
She alleged that the accused tried to propose to her but she denied the proposal.
“He continued to follow her and before she reached home he grabbed her and forced himself on her without consent,” Maome said.

The man was arrested and appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.
“We are appealing to our community to safeguard themselves and not to put themselves in dangerous situations, especially after dark,” said Maome.
