Seventeen suspects were arrested during a daily stop-and-search operation in Katlehong on Tuesday.
The operation was held by officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit in their continued efforts to tackle crime in the area.
The accused were arrested for a number of different offences.

Charges included:
• Common assault: 2
• Malicious damage to property: 2
• Warrant of arrest – for contempt of court: 2
• Possession of drugs (including dagga): 11

All of the arrested suspects were taken to the Katlehong Police Station where they were formally charged.
Katlehong SAPS’ acting station commander Col Nomthandeki Mthembu thanked everyone involved in the arrests and encouraged them to continue their hard work.
The accused have since appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reason.
