While relaxing at their Albemarle home on Wednesday, Liance and Zelna van Zyl realised their cat was missing.
“After looking for Tiger for hours, they heard him crying from high up in a tree in the neighbour’s yard,” explained Estelle van Zyl.

“They realised the cat was too high up in the tree and there was no way they could get up that high to rescue him, so they decided to phone the fire department.”
Estelle commended the staff from the Germiston Fire Station for their service.
“Everybody was so helpful and friendly, starting from the woman who answered the call, trying to calm the children down to get directions from them, to the staff who attended the call,” she said.
When Liance and Zelna saw the fire truck coming down the road they began crying in relief.

“A huge thank you goes to the four members of the Germiston Fire Department for rescuing our Tiger.
“My children are huge animal lovers and really would do anything for their animals,” Estelle said.
