Baby Minnaar and Agnes Ngxola, members of Rest-A-While Service Centre for the Aged, were thrilled with their food hampers donated by Cherrywood Estates and Sandvik, on Mandela Day.
The Nelson Mandela centenary celebrations went off without a hitch at Rest-a-While Service Centre for the Aged on Mandela Day.
Cherrywood Estate, a Primrose-based company, and with the help of Sandvik, donated food hampers and toiletries to the elderly.
Yammin Hammond Incorporated donated blankets. Robert Baigent Attorney & Conveyancer sponsored cakes, allowing the elderly to enjoy a lovely tea-party.
“The pensioner’s grant is not enough to sustain our senior citizens, so we decided to be a part of Rest-A-While’s winter drive and donated food and toiletries.
“As residents of this community, we felt the need to give back to our neighbours and lift their spirits,” said Jenny Clack from Cherrywood Estate.
Rest-A-While staff also welcomed a team of 12 social workers from Ekurhuleni’s Department of Social Development, who assisted them with cleaning throughout the day.
Running around cheerfully serving the elderly were Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan and her team.
“We have been on our feet for most of the day, but the help we’ve received today was spectacular,” said Trudy Carreira, manager of Rest-a- While.
Spending time with the elderly at Rest-A-While Service Centre for the Aged, on Mandela Day, were Marie Fowlds, Michelle Bezeidenhout and Dina van Eeden.
Josphina Modibedi enjoyed the tea party hosted by Rest-A-While Service Centre for the Aged on Mandela Day.
Celebrating Nelson Mandela’s legacy at Rest-A-While Service Centre for the Aged was Chrisie van Wyk.
Thrilled to be seeing new and old faces at their tea party on Mandela Day, were Anna Botha and Lulu Marx.
Catering to the elderly on Mandela Day were Kade Guerreiro, Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan and Trudy Carreira, manager of Rest-a-While Service Centre for the aged.
Cherrywood Estates saw a need to donate food hampers and toiletries at Rest-a-While Service Centre for the Aged. Together with Sandvik, Yammin Hammond Incorporated and Robert Baigent Attorneys & Conveyancers, they donated various necessities for the elderly.
Cleaning and happily sorting books at Rest-A-While Service Centre for the Aged on Mandela Day, were Mashudu Denga, Fikiso Sasolo and Mbali Madondo from the Ekurhuleni’s Department of Social Development.
Jenny Clack, William Elliot and Gavin Lawrence from Cherrywood Estate gave 67 minutes of their time on Mandela Day. They brought happiness to the elderly at Rest-A-While Service Centre for the Aged.
