BPYO motivates women to hold on to their dreams

Batho Pele Youth Organisation (BPYO), a non-profit organisation (NPO) in partnership with Boa Mosadi, held an event on August 18 to encourage women to take their dreams seriously.

The event, under the theme “A Date with your Dreams” took place at the BPYO premises in Greenfield and was held in line with the Women’s Day celebrations.

One of the organisers, Ntombi Ganu from BPYO, said the purpose of the event was to help young people in engaging with their dreams through education.

“We are aware that young people have dreams, just that they don’t want to follow the right procedures to make their dreams successful, they just want shortcuts. We called them here because we want them to be patient and take one step at a time,” said Ganu.

She said they want young people to know the way to success is through building a carrier and general welfare.

Young men and women from the township came in their numbers to listen to successful people who have made it in life.

One of the guest speakers, Thando Nogaga, told young people about the importance of having dreams.

“It is not wrong to have a dream. Actually, the most successful people in life had dreams and they made sure they mix with the right people with positive minds who helped to make their dreams successful,” said Nogaga.

He went on to teach young people how to implement their dreams and taught them that dreams need to be sustained.

Another guest speaker, Ouma Khasu, said: “For a dream to be implemented effectively you need to visualise it and have it in your mind,” said Khasu.

In his conclusion, Bhekisisa Buthelezi said young people from a poor background should be motivated enough to make their dream become successful.

“Your struggle and your poverty should be motivation enough to make you work hard in achieving your dreams and change your situation at home. Each and every one of you has the ability to make a change to your situations at home. Do not let your children and your grandchildren live the poverty life you lived,” said Buthelezi.

Zinhle Masikane, one of the organisers, said the event was a success.

“We did not expect people to come in their numbers like they did today. We hope they learnt a lot from the speakers,” said Masikane.

The Bua Mosadi team gave away gifts, containing stationery and sanitary pads, to the first 10 ladies at the event.
