Child, two others killed in Leondale collision
ER24 responded to the scene of a two-vehicle collision in Leondale.
Three people were killed and three others injured following a collision on the R554 near Leondale last Saturday.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 1pm, they found a child lying on the shoulder of the road.
Two vehicles were standing on the opposite side of the road.
“Upon further assessment, paramedics found the child had sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene,” said Ineke van Huyssteen, spokesperson for ER24.

“Paramedics also found two other people who had sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead on the scene, while two more people were found with serious injuries, and one other was found with moderate injuries.”
It is believed the young pedestrian was hit before the vehicles collided.
ER24, as well as various other medical services on the scene, transported the patients to hospital for further medical care.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigation,” said van Huyssteen.
