Cash-in-transit robbers get away with empty trolley in Germiston CBD

A security officer was shot in a cash-in-transit heist in the Germiston CBD, last Monday. Capt André de Jager, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni West Cluster SAPS, told the GCN that at about 9.45am, G4S arrived at a business, situated on the corner of Spilsbury and Meyer streets, to collect money.

Heritage Day is celebrated annually in South Africa on September 24 and recognises and celebrates the cultural wealth of SA. Police celebrate Heritage Day in style

The Katlehong North Police Station was a hive of activity last Friday as officers and staff celebrated Heritage Day. The team embraced the diversity of the day by dressing up in their cultures’ traditional attire and preparing and sharing a selection of delicious foods from various ethnic groups. The event was memorable and a great success.
The three most dangerous snakes on the East Rand

The warm weather means snakes will now be up and about after a long period of hibernation, hungry and in search of food. From mid-August until late May it is snake season. More than 80 per cent of all snakebites in South Africa occur between January and April and in the early evening with people accidentally stepping on snakes.
Caltex staff held up by two robbers

Two suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes and a cellphone worth R7 000 last Monday night after robbing the Caltex garage on Barbara Road in Homestead.
