Founder and instructor, Thato Musi, says his mission is to build a strong and long-term relationship with township children.
“I also want to encourage and teach them to work as a team at a young age. I would like to teach these beautiful children because I believe in creating beautiful and creative dancers.
“I personally love dance because I believe it can help to develop good manners. Boys at a young age can learn through dance how to handle themselves around girls. As a result, dance can make one a better person,” said Musi.
The dance classes are held at the Tshabalala Primary School, Phake Section, Katlehong.
Palesa Mothapo (13), a Grade Seven learner at the school says dancing makes her feel relaxed.

“After a stress of attending classes from morning until afternoon, there is no better way to relax than to be in a dance class. At the same time, dance keeps us busy. Being at dance class takes us out of the streets since there are dangerous drugs out there,” says Mothapo.
Bertha Mahlatji, one of the teachers at the school, believes not all learners are gifted academically.
“The reasons why we have allowed our learners to partake in dance lessons is the realisation that not all learners are academically gifted. Some might just make a living as dancers one day,” said Mahlatji.
Musi thanked the school management for allowing them to use a classroom to conduct dance lessons.
The academy is based at number 297 Phake Section.
