One the menu: Pit Stop under new ownership

Fast-food joint on the corner of Main Road and Scorpia Street promises an original taste in their food prepared with love and passion.

Divine Chakaza and Tatiana Tatenda have taken over the Pit Stop food truck on the premises and they’re confident that their original food servings are sure to generate foot traffic to their establishment.

“I have always wanted a food truck and I guess this one found me at the right time,” said Divine.

Adam Nel founded Pit Stop in May, this year, and later handed over the business to one of his employees, Tatiana.

Tatiana immediately called Divine informing her of her boss’s decision and Divine could not resist the offer and the women partnered up and switched up the menu.

Pit Stop was officially under new management as of September 10.

“My mother was a great cook and her cooking style inspired me to want to become a chef.

“I have worked in the food industry for five years and I’ve learnt that treating your customers with respect and keeping a clean establishment is top priority,” said Divine.

Pit Stop’s menu, which consisted mainly of kota slides, now also serves beef and crumbed chicken burgers with extra cheese (all servings include a nibble of chips).

“We do not have a vegetarian menu at the moment but we do have a salad bar which comprises of a garden salad and an original Greek salad,” said Divine.

Pap and mogodu and pap and beef stew have been identified as popular lunch servings as they constantly make an appearance on the daily specials, as well as their new edition, the chicken salad.

“My name is my trademark.

“I ensure that every plate of food we serve is presentable and tastes divine.

“We don’t use too many flavours, ensuring that our customers rather experience the original taste of any meal they order,” said Divine.

Apart from growing a small business, Divine is a mother focused on giving her 11-year-old son, Cassidy, the best life possible.

“Cassidy was recently diagnosed with dyshidrotic eczema and I believe with the hard work I am putting in I will be able to take him to the best dermatologists in town.

“God gave me hands and feet and while they still function I will work tirelessly to lead an honest life for me and my family,” said Divine.

When asked what sets Pit Stop apart from other food trucks, Divine and Tatiana said their passion for food and customer service is what makes them stand out.

Pit Stop currently operates from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
