Ten games of bingo, refreshments and a children’s zone saw a great deal of entertainment and fun at Avril Elizabeth Home last Saturday.
Locals found their bingo cards and comfortable seats and set to join in raising much-needed funds for the home and to win themselves awesome prizes in the process.
Meloney Tudor (assistant manager of the home) and Nicky Tudor (care manager of Avril Elizabeth Home) shared the spotlight with Shannon Tudor who was the first to shout ‘Bingo!’ in last Saturday’s fund-raising games of bingo at the home.
“All proceeds will go to the home which will help us create a comfortable stay for our residents and help with future entertainment plans,” said Carol Büser, general manager of the home.
First-time bingo player Ryan Tudor vowed to share any winnings with his dad, Paul.
Griet Cloete, who was unlucky in the first two games, holding cards that remained blank for most of those games, was the first to ecstatically shout ‘Bingo!’ in the third game.
Six-year-old Matthew Oosthuizen won himself a chocolate for being the youngest to attend the fund-raiser at Avril Elizabeth Home last Saturday.
“This event was made possible by the parents, community members and staff of Avril Elizabeth Home.
“It’s refreshing to see everyone enjoying themselves and chipping in to help us better the lives of everyone here,” said Carol.
Clint Oosthuizen had help from his son, Matthew, and daughter, Kelsey, in choosing a prize after his bingo card made him the second winner of the day.
