While on patrol in the Mofokeng Section, in Katlehong, last Sunday, officers from the Katlehong Police Station made a gruesome discovery.
“Officers were told by members of the community that a baby had been dumped at a dumping site in the area.
“It is believed that the baby was stillborn and, therefore, was dead when it was dumped,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe, Katlehong police’s corporate communications official.
When police arrived on the scene they discovered the body and noticed that the baby had been burnt.

A case of concealment of birth was opened by the Katlehong police.
“The mother and/or suspects are unknown at this stage,” said Ndobe.
Katlehong police are appealing to the community to come forward with information which may lead them to the mother and/or family of the baby.
The community is urged to call the Katlehong Police Station on 011 617 3763.
