Family, friends and laughter at Sasonah Lodge’s annual family day

Sasonah Lodge Care Centre’s residents enjoyed a day in the garden with family and new friends from Nedbank, Germiston.

The festive season is drawing nearer each day, and for many, the hope of participating in annual family traditions during this time become a reality.

Staying with family-orientated traditions, Sasonah Lodge Care Centre held their annual family day last Saturday.

Members of the community and family members of patients living at the centre all gathered for a traditional South African braai.

The centre caters to the needs of cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and frail care patients, as well as offering home-based care.

Joining in the fun was the Nedbank, Germiston branch who rolled out their corporate social investment (CSI) initiative at the centre.

“We identified the centre and chose them as the perfect recipients for our donation.

“During the rollout of our CSI we usually get in touch with the client and deliver services or items as per the needs of the client,” said Memory Louw, branch manager for Nedbank, Germiston.

“This time we chose to partner with Sasonah Lodge as we liked their family day idea and that it’s a local home.

“We were thrilled to join them on the day.

“It is important to give back to the community.”

The close-knit Sasonah Lodge family embraced all walk-ins and those whose families were unable to attend the event.

“The success of the family day is all because of our donors, especially the Germiston community.

“All year round we receive donations that keep us afloat and without them our centre would not operate as efficiently as it does,” said Coleen Nunn, the owner of the centre.
