Tatijana gains another dancing world title

Tatijana Ignjatov has two more dancing world titles to add to her accomplishments.

Lambton’s Tatijana Ignjatov has done it again.

She has flown the South African flag high and once again become a world dancing champion.

Tatijana was crowned the 2018 World Champion for modern solo and duo in the 12 to 15 age category at the IDO (International Dance Organisation) World Championships.

Tatijana won the modern, jazz and show dance IDO World Championship titles in the children’s section, last year, giving her a “golden ticket” to compete without having to qualify for this year’s competition.

Each year only the top three dancers from each represented country are allowed to compete in the prestigious event.

This year South Africa could take four as Tatijana had the golden ticket.

The IDO World Championships were held in Ossa, Poland from November 30 to December 9 and saw 28 nations and 2 800 dancers competing.

Some of the competing countries were America, Canada, United Kingdom, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Russia, Korea, Mexico, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Japan, Italy, Germany, Belarus, Finland, Poland, Serbia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Gibraltar, South Africa and Bosnia Herzegovina.

Tatijana competed in jazz solo, modern solo and modern duo.

The modern solo section consisted of 58 girls.

Tatijana had to dance through five rounds to get to the finals.

Here she danced her way to a spectacular win and world title.

The modern duo consisted of 33 duets and Tatijana and her duet partner Danielle Allan won the section earning them the world title.

Jazz solo consisted of 53 dancers and Tatijana made the semi-finals placing sixth.

The junior section was a strong section with many well-known dancers from across the world competing for the prestigious titles.

Tatijana also attended the IDO Showdance World Championships in September.

She made the finals in the 12 to 15 age category and placed fifth.

“I extend my thanks to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and the executive mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina for my sponsorship to the IDO World Championships for modern and jazz.

“I am truly grateful and humbled by their support,” said Tatijana.

Before departing for the competition Tatijana was awarded South African Protea Colours for dancing.
