Jeppe High School for Girls learners earned a host of accolades at the Jeppe Eisteddfod for Voice.

The competition, held on June 22, provided an opportunity for the girls to showcase their singing abilities, regardless of whether they study music.

The young vocalists delivered an impressive variety of performances, covering genres ranging from pop to opera.

Their performances were adjudicated by Theunis Botha, who was impressed by the exceptional standard of talent displayed by the learners.

The girls’ success was celebrated during a special assembly on August 25.

Botha praised and encouraged the girls throughout the competition, recognising their hard work, confidence and musical ability.

The results reflected the high calibre of performances, with more than 10 diplomas (distinctions) awarded to the talented singers.

The girls also achieved more than 22 Gold and Gold Plus results combined, marking an outstanding showing for the school.

The achievements were celebrated as the learners received recognition for their performances, with their success highlighting not only their vocal abilities but also the dedication and commitment that go into developing their craft.

“For the young performers, the accolades are more than just awards; they represent hours of preparation, courage to perform before an audience and a willingness to develop their talents,” said headmistress Sybil Bhagwan.

She congratulated all the girls who participated, celebrated their achievements, and encouraged them to continue pursuing their passion for music and performance.
