Local football club celebrates matrics

Many matrics across the city celebrated the end of their high school careers. Among them were local football club Puma Rangers’ Atylegang Komane, Lesley Matare and Gift Masete.

Albemarle man brutally attacked at his home

A 63-year-old man was brutally attacked at his home in Albemarle, early last Thursday morning. Athol Nuttley went to take out his dustbin when he was accosted and assaulted by a number of assailants. According to Athol, they attacked him from behind and stuffed something in his mouth to prevent him from screaming.

The three most dangerous snakes on the East Rand

The warm weather means snakes will now be up and about after a long period of hibernation, hungry and in search of food. From mid-August until late May it is snake season.

Alleged armed robbers nabbed in Primrose

Primrose police arrested four suspects, between the ages of aged 24 and 32, last Wednesday for an alleged armed robbery which happened in Rietfontein Road. The police were attending to a scene of the theft of a motor vehicle in Shamrock Road when four men came running towards them, and they heard bystanders shouting “they have a firearm”.

Tapiwa rises from tragedy to the top

After tragically losing both his parents in one day at the age of 17, Tapiwa Phiri had a troublesome matric year, but still managed to come out as a top achiever. Tapiwa lost his mother who had been battling depression one Sunday morning in 2017 and upon hearing the news, later the same evening, his ill-stricken father suffered a heart attack.
