No job or tender is for sale in the metro

The metro is urging people to never hand over money to anyone offering them a metro job or tender.

Job seekers and entrepreneurs who wish to do business with the metro are warned not to pay any person or employee money for jobs and tenders.

The metro pleads with the public to be vigilant of scammers selling non-existent municipal jobs, and tender documents, to unsuspecting job seekers and businesspeople.

The municipality has been inundated with businesspeople who have been lured into a tender scam to provide waste bins.

These types of scams are common at this time of the year.

The municipality is urging the public to be smart and not desperate for employment or business and urges them not to hand over money to any of its employees or people purporting to be metro employees.

“The metro’s recruitment and procurement processes are transparent and follow ethical principles,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro.

“Therefore, the metro’s processes are open, predictable and afford each prospective bidder timely access to the same and accurate information.”

In terms of recruitment, the metro advertises vacancies, shortlist candidates, interviews and appoints.

“There are no other shortcut processes the scammers usually promise.

“The metro migrated its recruitment process from a manual format to an online platform last year,” said Gadebe.

“As a result of this migration, the metro is no longer accepting manual submissions of job applications at customer care centres and human resource offices.”

All applications are done online and vacancies in the metro are advertised on the website at www.ekurhuleni.gov.za.

Request for quotations notices to tender is also available on the website.
