Donation brings hope to Dudu Zwane Home
There were many smiles as SPAR and Kaya FM gave a generous donation to Dudu Zwane Home.
A fresh coat of paint to welcome those in need, new beds to put a smile on children’s faces, broken plumbing fixed so that everyone may enjoy clean water.
These wishes of the Dudu Zwane Home in Malvern will now come true thanks to a generous donation from SPAR and Kaya FM.
SPAR and Kaya FM generously donated R150 000 to the home on January 30.
The money was raised during the Kaya Soul Inspired Concert that took place on December 9, last year, at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Johannesburg.
More than 5 000 people attended the annual concert.
During the official handover of the donation to the Dudu Zwane Home, the families who stay at the home welcomed representatives of the respective companies with open arms and tears of joy in their eyes.
“We are so grateful for the donation.
“It is more than we could ever hope for.
“We were so surprised and were not expecting it at all,” said Thulane Mngomezulu, managing director of the Dudu Zwane Home.
“On the day, all of us got together and sat down for a delicious lunch that SPAR also donated.
“It felt like Christmas.
“There was hope and so much love.”
The donation will be used to fix the home’s plumbing, to paint the house to create a lively atmosphere and to buy new beds for the children’s room.

Mngomezulu thanked SPAR and Kaya FM by expressing his gratitude.
“You are wonderful to us and have changed the lives of everyone who lives here.
“Please continue to assist others and change their lives for the better as well,” said Mngomezulu.
Kathleen Bailie, SPAR inland advertising manager, said they are very proud to be associated with organisations that give hope to communities.
“The Dudu Zwane Home caters for more than 23 people who are infected and affected by HIV/Aids.
“They provide a holistic approach which includes educating the local community and are, therefore, in desperate need of medicine, food and caregivers.
“We hope this donation will allow the centre to expand their influence in the community so they may be able to assist more families affected by HIV/Aids,” said Bailie.
This is the third consecutive year SPAR has sponsored the Kaya Soul Inspired Concert.
The Dudu Zwane Home is a non-profit organisation that takes care of people who are infected and affected by HIV/Aids.
The home also provides services such as washing, feeding and monitoring medication for patients.
The establishment features a soup kitchen, social development services, counselling and support groups.
The Dudu Zwane Home is proud of its community outreach programme that aims to educate the community and create awareness around the deadly disease.
According to StatsSA, 7.52 million people are living with HIV/Aids in South Africa.
