Rowing South Africa (RowSA) on their Facebook page said they are deeply shocked and saddened to hear of a lightning strike incident that occurred last Saturday at a regatta at VLC (Victoria Lake Club) at Germiston Lake which resulted in the death of a coach and injury of an athlete.

Rowing South Africa has shed some light on the tragic lightning strike that led to the death of a 19-year-old coach and the injury of a 14-year-old rower at Germiston Lake, last Saturday. Both coach and rower, whose names are yet to be released, were affiliated to Somerset College in the Western Cape.
Municipal equipment stolen at depot in Elspark
While doing routine patrols, the security officers on duty at the metro’s South Park depot on Heidelberg Road, alleged to have seen suspicious behaviour on the premises, recently.
Albemarle man brutally attacked at his home
A 63-year-old man was brutally attacked at his home in Albemarle, recently. Athol Nuttley went to take out his dustbin when he was accosted and assaulted by a number of assailants. According to Athol, they attacked him from behind and stuffed something in his mouth to prevent him from screaming.
Three suspected drug dealers nabbed in Marathon informal settlement
A tip-off from the members of community resulted in three Marathon informal settlement residents being apprehended by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU).
