Eskom implemented Stage Two rotational loadshedding from 9am today (Monday, February 11).
Loadshedding is expected to continue until 10pm tonight.
“Although a number of generating units have returned to service as per the nine-point recovery plan, regrettably additional units continue to trip,” Eskom said in a statement.
“This results in a shortage of generating capacity.”

Customers are reminded to treat all electrical points as live during loadshedding.
Stage Two calls for 2 000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period.
Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.
Eskom appeals to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period.
Switch off all geysers, as well as non-essential lighting and electric appliances to assist in reducing demand.
