Sixty-one perpetrators jailed across Ekurhuleni for various crimes

Various crime prevention techniques by the Ekurhuleni West Cluster see 61 suspects in the metro charged with various crimes.

With an eagerness to rid the metro of crime, Ekurhuleni West Cluster officers embarked on several crime prevention operations such as stop-and-searches, vehicle checkpoints (VCPs), and the tracing of suspects in the cluster policing precincts recently.

The stations, namely Alberton, Bedfordview, Brackendowns, Eden Park, Elsburg, Germiston, Primrose, Katlehong North, Katlehong South, Tokoza, Vosloorus and Zonkizizwe, managed to arrest 61 suspects during their tour of duties.

Ekurhuleni West Cluster police members, EMPD officers, CPF members, along with security officers, made several arrests for shoplifting, rape, common assault (related to domestic violence), possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, malicious damage to property, possession of drugs, attempted murder, dealing in dagga, traffic fines, drunk and driving, possession of suspected stolen property, general theft, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), reckless and negligent driving, fraud, crimen injuria and intimidation.

All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in various courts, such as Palm Ridge, Germiston and Edenvale Magistrate Courts, in the cluster soon.
