A stolen Nissan 1400 light delivery vehicle was recovered in Graceland last Wednesday at 12.50pm by members of the EMPD.
The bakkie was parked by its owner on Green Avenue in Kempton Park and was stolen at noon.
The vehicle’s tracking company relayed the message to EMPD SWAT unit members, who were able to locate the bakkie in Graceland.
“The SWAT unit promptly went into action after receiving the information and picked up the signal of the stolen LDV’s movement on Heidelberg Road in Graceland,” said Insp Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.
“They cornered the driver of the vehicle at a block of flats near Sarel Hattingh Road.”

The members discovered that the 32-year-old suspect had an outstanding case at the Bedfordview Police Station for the possession of stolen property.
“Once the suspect was handcuffed, he allegedly confessed that he was on his way to meet a buyer and was selling the vehicle for R5 000,” said Mokheseng.
“He was detained at the Elsburg Police Station and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.”
He was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
