Senior citizens stay active
A two-hour gym session starts soon after sunrise, with 61-year-old trainer Anna Morolong taking her enthusiastic elderly gymnasts through several body loosening moves.
Every Wednesday morning Pull Together Senior Citizens Club (PTSCC) from Spruitview gather at Spruitview Multipurpose Park to train in basketball, aerobics, mindset and different athletics.
What happens in the next two hours has helped improve the lives of each and every one of these retired pensioners.

The club consists of more than 70 members form 60 years and older.
According to club member Meggie Chauke (61), the purpose of training is to keep fit and at the same time form a strong basketball team that is going to compete with other senior citizens teams from all over Ekurhuleni.
“They say healthy minds live within healthy bodies. The only way to get a healthy body is through exercising,” she said.
Gym and sport is not the only thing the PTSCC does. They also do handwork and run the box of love, where members of the club bring items and put them in one box with the aim of donating to different orphanages and old age homes in desperate needs.
Rose Buthelezi (61), communications and media official of the club, said on a Tuesday the club meets to discuss what they are going to do next.
“During that meeting we also get feedback to those who attend the forum meeting since we belong to Katlehong Forum,” said Buthelezi.
