#IMadeMyMark: Mayor Masina happy about unity in the ANC
“I am confident the people of this country will have trust in us and give us another 25 years because there is a lot we still need to do for them,” said Masina.
Executive mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni Municipality Mzwandile Masina cast his vote at Mogobong Primary School at Nhlapo Section, Katlehong, on election day, May 8. Masina is also the chairperson of the ANC in Ekurhuleni.
Nhlapo Section is Masina’s birthplace. He has spent his childhood in the area.

Talking to Kathorus MAIL outside the voting station, Masina said he has been voting in the same station since 1994, in an election that catapulted the late Nelson Mandela to political power as the first democratically elected president of the country.
He said he was confident the ANC would win Gauteng because the people of province have trust in the party, and that the organisation was determined to correct the mistakes that led to its loss of political power in the local government elections of 2016. The ANC lost two metros to DA in Johannesburg and Tshwane.
The executive mayor said the ANC’s loss of power was as a result of divisions within the party, the divisions he described as “a things of the past”.
“Since there is now unity in the movement, the ANC, at both national and provincial, will now work closely with municipalities to improve the economy, and to create job opportunities for the people of this country,” said Masina.
He said the ANC national conference of December 2017 forced the party to self-correct.
“We are confident that after we spent a lot of time self-correcting because of the defeat in the metros, now the ANC leadership is united.

He also talked about the progress the ANC has made since it replaced the apartheid government 25 years ago.
“The ANC has improved the lives of the people of this country. We have built decent free house and provided free education in government schools. We are working on providing free medical aid scheme to the people of this country to enable them to have access to decent medical care.
