Two arrested for alleged drug possession in Primrose

Men arrested for alleged drug possession during Primrose police’s stop-and-search.

During a recent stop-and-search operation in the Marathon informal settlement officers from the Primrose Police Station arrested two men on a charge of drug possession.

The men, aged 29 and 38 years old respectively, were both allegedly found in possession of nyaope.

“The first suspect was found sitting with a group of men,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“All of the men were searched, but only the accused was found in possession of drugs wrapped in a small plastic bag, which he allegedly admitted, was nyaope.

“The second suspect was stopped while he was walking in the informal settlement and was found in possession of a similar substance as was found in the first suspect’s possession.”

Both men were arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.

They have since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for plea and trials.
