“There is high prevalence of cable faults in and around the Lambton area,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro.

“We are in the process of rerouting and upgrading the whole electricity network infrastructure.

“This project is planned for the next three financial years, starting from 2019/20.

“At the moment we are doing our best to attend to all outages and minimise the impact to all our customers.”

In response to community members’ concerns that they are unable to reach the metro’s call-taking centre to report outages, Gadebe said, “When there is an outage in an area there is an increase in call volumes to our call centre, which means not every call will get through.”

Community members are once again encouraged to report electricity-related issues by calling 086 054 3000.
