Stop-and-search operations yield results

Twenty suspects nabbed by Katlehong police in several crime prevention operations.

Officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit took to the streets in several stop-and-search operations.

During the operations, held between June 5 and 7, police arrested 20 suspects and increased their visibility within their precinct.

The accused were arrested for several different offences.

Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, trespassing, house break-in and theft, intimidation, possession of drugs, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and malicious damage to property.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Tambo has called on the community to report crime in the area, even if it is anonymously, to help in the fight against crime.
