Information leads to arrest of alleged dagga dealer

The EMPD’s Drug Enforcement Unit arrested an alleged dagga dealer.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) followed up on information received about an individual selling dagga within a business establishment on Rietfontein Road, Primrose, last Wednesday.

The DEU members’ efforts bore fruit as the information proved accurate when a male, fitting the description provided, was found in possession of ziplock bags containing dagga and cash.

“Upon searching the suspect, the DEU members found 19 ziplock bags of dagga on his person, as well as cash amounting to R90 suspected to be the proceeds from the illegal dealings,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

“The dagga seized is estimated to be worth around R300 on the streets.”

The 39-year-old man was detained at the Primrose Police Station on charges of possession of and dealing in dagga.

He was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court last Thursday.
