Wanted suspect fatally wounded during shoot-out with the police
A 41-year-old man was fatally wounded during a shoot-out with police in Katlehong on July 13.
According to Katlehong police spokesperson Capt Mega Ndobe, the police received information about a man who was pointing a firearm at one of the residents in Katlehong and responded very swiftly.

“We were approaching the suspect, who started shooting at the police, and a shoot-out ensued. The suspect was fatally shot while none of the police were injured,” said Ndobe.
He said the preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was wanted by the police for crimes that include murder, attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and arson.

The unlicensed firearm used by the suspect will be sent for ballistic tests to establish whether it had been used to commit other crimes.
