Mandela Day fun and fund-raising for needy animals

Clicks Pharmacy Germiston raised funds and purchased food for the Germiston SPCA in honour of Mandela Day.

It was all about raising money to assist animals at Clicks Pharmacy Germiston on Mandela Day.

Staff from the pharmacy started raising funds three weeks ago to purchase food for the animals at the Germiston SPCA.

Shaldine Wolfaardt and Martha Lebakeng from Clicks Pharmacy Germiston show off the makings of delectable boerewors rolls on sale to help raise more funds to purchase food for the animals at the Germiston SPCA on Mandela Day.

“Thanks to the generosity of our customers and suppliers we raised R5 000, which we were able to buy food with,” said Riana Hoffman, Clicks Pharmacy Germiston manager.

“We then combined forces with City Pets Lambton and they gave us discount on the food we purchased, as well as matching the amount of food we bought.”

Monja Gagiano from Clicks Pharmacy Germiston had scrumptious cupcakes and muffins for sale as part of the fund-raising initiative.

Various ways to raise funds were initiated, including a raffle and on Mandela Day itself staff sold muffins, cupcakes, beverages and boerewors rolls.

“The last money we raise will also go towards purchasing more food for the animals, and will be dropped off at the SPCA,” said Riana.

The donation was accepted on behalf of the Germiston SPCA by Jabu Nyaweni, the senior inspector at the society.
