Looting in Buhle Park leads to 15 arrests

Elsburg SAPS members responded to looting incidents in their policing district.

The Elsburg SAPS were out in Buhle Park last Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, between 11pm and 2am, combating crime in their area after residents started to loot stores owned by foreign nationals.

The shops looted were:

• Buhle Park Discount Supermarket in Nitrogen Street was looted and the door was burnt.

• Yellow Spaza Shop in Nitrogen Street.

• White container in Obita Street.

• New tuck shop on the corner of Mutandi and Lex streets.

• Blessing tuck shop in Prima Fasie Street.

• Ashaan Mini-Market in Niemann Street.

• White spaza shop in Dragon Street was vandalised.

“Fifteen suspects were arrested during the violence and were due to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on a charge of public violence,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.
