CIT truck robbed

The security officers sustained injuries from the truck overturning.

A cash-in-transit (CIT) truck was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money on September 16 in Maphanga Section, Katlehong North.

According to Ekurhuleni District communications officer Sgt Rufus Tema, a docket of CIT robbery has been opened and the police are investigating.

Tema said: “At 4.30pm on Monday, the police received information that a CIT truck had overturned. The truck collided with a vehicle which later caught fire. The vehicle matched the description of a BMW.

“Suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money using a getaway car. The CIT security officers were also robbed of a rifle and a pistol.”

Tema said no arrests have been made so far and no one was shot. The security officers sustained injuries from the truck overturning.
