Faith-based group visits Somalia Park
KASIE Outreach, in partnership with DnA in Christ, a religious group, gave the elderly of Somalia Park a visit with the intent to give back to the community, on September 29.
The group, which comprises of five youngsters residing in the Ekurhuleni region, hosted their monthly outreach, which catered for seniors at the informal settlement.
The elderly had their hands full as they were offered clothing and non-perishable food. Among other activities of the day, the group shared the Word of God and hymns were sung.
Simphiwe Malunga, founder of Kasie Outreach, said through the visit they hoped to cherish the moment with the elderly and that similar visits would be done annually.

“It was wonderful spending time with the seniors. We are a group whose belief is to give back to the community with the little that we have. While spending time with the elderly, we also won souls. The day marked the beginning of a new start in Somalia Park. They will be seeing us more,” said Malunga.
He also extended his gratitude to sponsors who made the event a success.
“As a religious group, we rely mostly on donations which enable us to give back to the community. We thank all those who donated clothing and food to this great cause,” he added.
Dumisane Mkhize, chairperson of the committee in Somalia Park commented, “We are grateful to have this group visit us and donate from the goodness of their hearts. They contributed immensely with the difference they brought to our community.”
