New deputy director ready to serve with dedication
The EMPD has promoted Supt Lebo Sebudi to a deputy director position.
As part of the Community Safety Legacy Project, launched by the metro’s city manager Dr Imogen Mashazi in 2017, the EMPD has appointed a female superintendent into a vacant deputy director’s post.
Supt Lebo Sebudi will give vital assistance to the administration in the EMPD’s Training Academy in order to ensure effective management and good service delivery, as well as motivate and empower female officers.
Her swearing-in ceremony took place at the EMPD’s head office in Kempton Park on Wednesday.

“You have worked hard and you deserve this position, please continue to make us proud,” said chief of police Isaac Jabulani Mapiyeye, as he replaced her old shoulder epaulettes with her new ones.
Sebudi, who joined the EMPD as an inspector from the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) in February 2007, has 17 years of experience in the law enforcement fraternity.
She went through intensive and challenging training to sharpen her managerial, technical and communication skills, in preparation for her new responsibilities.
The appointment was effective from November 1.
