Man (27) arrested after colliding a stolen bakkie on the wall

Members of the Germiston Flying Squad chased a stolen white bakkie from Boksburg to Katlehong in Moshoeshoe Section, where it collided with a barrier wall at the Lindelani train station.

According to the Germiston Flying Squad spokesperson, Const Ntombikayise Ngcobo, flying squad unit officers received a complaint about a white 1400 bakkie that had been stolen at Lambton Mall. They further received information that the bakkie was driving around Boksburg, and when they finally caught up with the driver, they signaled him to stop but he kept on driving.

The driver of the bakkie then sped off in the direction of Katlehong through the heavy mid-day traffic. But when he noticed police vehicles waiting for him, he managed to drive in the direction of Moshoeshoe Section where he failed to maneuver a sharp curve and collided with the wall bordering the train station.

The 27-year-old male driver was arrested after the collision and was charged with driving a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the SAPS vehicle storage facility in Benoni, and the suspect was detained pending a court appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
