Katlehong North SAPS pounce on criminals

Katlehong North police arrested 15 suspects in several weekend operations.

In a continued effort to curb crime in their precinct, the Katlehong North police held several operations last weekend.

“Katlehong North SAPS members are striving to combat crime in our precinct,” said Capt Lesetja Mathobela, communications officer for the Katlehong North police.

The operations, held between November 15 and 17, led to the arrest of 15 suspects.

The accused were arrested for various offences.

Charges included shoplifting, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drugs, common assault and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

“We want to send a warning to criminals that we will have a zero tolerance approach this festive season in the fight against crime,” said Mathobela.

The community is once again urged to report any suspicious activities, people or vehicles to the police by calling 072 564 7446 or 10111 or by sending an SMS to 32211.
